Privacy Policy

Last updated October 16, 2026

bomisou (“we”, “us”) is an independent quarterly print journal made in Nederland, Colorado. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit bomisou.com or join our newsletter, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

The short version: we only ask for your email address, we never sell it, and nothing beyond what the site needs to work runs unless you say yes in our cookie settings.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Your email address, when you join our newsletter.
  • Anything you write to us, if you email us at hello@bomisou.com.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. It uses this to deliver the site and keep it secure.
  • Bot protection. When you submit the newsletter form, our hosting provider runs a check in your browser to tell people from automated bots. This is necessary to stop spam signups.
  • Analytics, with your consent. If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics records how you use the site, such as the pages you visit, roughly where you are, your device and browser, and whether you joined the newsletter.
  • Advertising measurement, with your consent. If you accept marketing cookies and we run ads, Meta and Google may record that you visited our site or joined the newsletter after seeing one of our ads, so we can tell which ads work.
  • Newsletter engagement. Our newsletter platform records whether you open our emails and which links you click.

How we use it

  • To send you the newsletter you signed up for: a letter every two weeks, news about Issue 01, and first word when founding memberships open.
  • To reply when you write to us.
  • To understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it.
  • To measure whether our ads work, only if you allow it.
  • To keep the site and the signup form secure and free of spam.

Cookies and similar technologies

When you first visit, we ask which cookies you’re happy with. There are three kinds:

  • Necessary. These keep the site working and remember your cookie choice. They’re always on. Your choice is stored in your browser, not in a cookie we send anywhere.
  • Analytics. Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and similar) count visits and signups.
  • Marketing. Cookies from Meta and Google (such as _fbp and _gcl) measure how our ads perform.

Analytics and marketing tools don’t load until you accept them, and rejecting is as easy as accepting. You can change your mind at any time from Cookie preferences at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw consent, we remove those cookies from your browser.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run bomisou, and only what they need:

  • beehiiv, which runs our newsletter, stores your email address and sends our emails.
  • Vercel, which hosts the website and provides its bot protection.
  • Google, which provides our email (Google Workspace) and, with your consent, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and ad measurement.
  • Meta, for ad measurement, only with your consent.
  • Adobe Fonts, which serves the typeface on our pages. Your browser requests the font files from Adobe, which receives your IP address.

These providers process data on our behalf or under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

How long we keep it

  • Newsletter: for as long as you’re subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you, and you can ask us to delete your address entirely.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics keeps this data for no longer than 14 months.
  • Emails you send us: for as long as we need them to help you.

Your choices and rights

  • Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of every newsletter.
  • Change your cookie choices from Cookie preferences at the bottom of any page.
  • Access, correct or delete your information, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing hello@bomisou.com. We’ll reply within 30 days.
  • Opt out of targeted advertising. Turning off marketing cookies stops Meta and Google from measuring your visit for our ads.

Depending on where you live, including some US states and the European Union, you may have additional rights under local law. We honor those requests whether or not the law requires it of us. We won’t treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Security

We use reputable providers, encrypted connections (HTTPS) and the smallest amount of data we can. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.

Children

bomisou isn’t directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has signed up, write to us and we’ll delete it.

Where your data is processed

bomisou is based in the United States, and our providers may process your information in the US and other countries. Wherever it’s processed, we expect it to be protected as this policy describes.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we’ll tell newsletter subscribers by email.
